I'm Beka.

I'm Beka and welcome to my little corner of the web! Thanks so much for stopping by here. I wanted this page to be a little section where you felt like you got to know me and my background with photography. When you ask someone to take your pictures, you are letting them photograph and see into your life and I hope this little space here will allow you, to see into mine.

My journey with photography began in 2012 as I lived abroad in South Korea teaching English. During my time there I began seeing some of the beautiful photos that my friends were taking. Even the picture on this page was taken in the rice fields of South Korea. That year abroad sparked my interest in photography. In 2013 I got married, moved to Oklahoma and purchased my first DSLR. I took some on-line classes on how to shoot in manual mode and then I began shooting lots and lots and lots of pictures. My husband and I spent 2015 in Myanmar and Thailand and I think I took over 10,000 pictures that year! Needless to say, I got a lot of practice and fell in love with photography.

Most of my family and friends know that I absolutely love taking pictures of flowers. They are pretty much always smiling and are so fun to photograph. You'll see flowers pop up in my portfolio and blog because I just can't help it.

I will be honest and tell you that the thought of photographing people in portrait type sessions terrified me. I told myself I'd never do that. (ha ha! Funny how things can change.) One day, my good friend asked me to take family pictures when her son turned 6 months old. I agreed to do it just for a friend and so we took his 6 month old pictures. After that photo session I realized how much I enjoyed doing portrait and lifestyle photos and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pictures turned out. Since then I have taken his 1 year photos, 1 year birthday party and his 1st haircut. I've also photographed other family photos and was a second photographer at a wedding.

Another big reason I am turning this hobby into a business is to be able to create my own schedule so I can spend more time with my husband. My husband is in the medical field and works crazy hours. Having my own business would allow me the freedom to be off of work when he is off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and getting to know me a little more. I hope my photographs will be a blessing to the people and families who receive them.
